How Does the Article Search Tool Work?
Key to finding relevant and useful articles in is selecting the right search terms. Use the publication date search tool to locate articles that were published before, during, or after a particular month or year.
How Do I Narrow My Search for Articles?
Users can select a “category” to limit their legal and legislative searches to a target geographic region, i.e. North America, Latin America, Asia, among others.
Click “Search,” and articles will be displayed on the resulting page. Search results include the author’s name, source, and an abstract of the article. Search results also indicate when the article was submitted. You can quickly browse the titles and short descriptions of the resources, and click on them to go directly to the ones that interest you.
In
some instances, the author’s names are hyperlinked to their
locations on the websites of partner organizations. When you click
the author, a second browser window opens to display the resource
on that site. The CHN site stays open in the first
window, so you can easily return to it.
How Does the Search Tool Work for Archived Articles?
Our archives database features thousands of articles, each categorized as “current” or “archived.” Articles most recently added to the database are marked “Current.” When searching for articles in the database, a search must be done for each individual "set" of articles – each archived set and the current articles set.
Beginning in September 2005, the articles database was configured to provide a monthly archive of submitted articles. All articles submitted to the website before Sept. 1, 2005 are archived in the “September 2005” set.
In the example below, searching for tax-related articles requires the user to select “Current Articles” to access articles on the database that were posted after the last day of the most recently archived month (in this example, October 2005).
To locate and access archived articles submitted from October 1 through 31, 2005, the user must select “October 2005.”
